From left to right: Edward Slack, Peter Smith, Alec Cameron, Mark Bethwaite, Les Field, Colin Sutton, Mark Bennett Professor Les Field, Chairman BSc, PhD, DSc (Syd) – Chairman Professor Field joined the Board in April 2005, following his appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) of UNSW. Professor Field is responsible for driving the strategic research direction and overall research performance of the University. He is charged with maintaining and advancing the University's profile in research and research training and with the commercialisation of UNSW world class research through NSi Dr Alec Cameron BSc, BE (Hons) (Syd), DPhil (Oxford), MS (NewYork), FAICD Dr. Alec Cameron was Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Resources) of UNSW, which also included the UNSW functions for Finance and overseeing controlled entities. He is now Dean of the Australian School of Business at UNSW. Professor Peter Smith RFD, MD, FRACP, FRCPA, FAICD Professor Peter Smith is Dean of Faculty Medicine at UNSW. In additional to his international academic and research medical experience he was also director of Uniservices Ltd, the commercial arm of the University of Auckland. Mr Mark Bethwaite, BE, MBldgSc, MBA, FAIM, (appointed 1 January 2007) Mr Bethwaite is a professional director with experience in three Chief Executive roles, two in major Australian public companies and also for Australian Business Limited. Dr. Colin Sutton BSc, PhD, FAICD Dr Sutton has extensive international experience in commercialising medical technology. He was appointed Managing Director and CEO of Ventracor Limited in 2003. Before joining Ventracor, he was CEO of SIRTeX Medical Limited. Mr Bethwaite and Dr Sutton are independent of UNSW.
