FOM Commercialisation Workshop 23 April 2009 Commercialisation of Medical Research, Part Two: Models and Challenges
This workshop has been organised by NewSouth Innovations Pty Ltd (NSi) and is intended to expand on last year’s general information workshop on “Commercialisation of Research at UNSW” and the role of NSi. The idea of this workshop is to provide the FOM staff and researchers with specific real life examples of how to identify potentially valuable IP arising out of your research activities, the various modes of protection for this IP, and to discuss the challenges and commercialisation models/strategy around Diagnostics, Medical Devices & Software, and Therapeutics. We have invited a distinguished panel of experts from industry and academia to share their experiences in these areas and provide feedback and intelligence on how to maximise your interactions with biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies with the view of establishing long-term collaborations which will allow you to better identify commercial opportunities, potentially be a source of funding and expert opinion, and ultimately improve the quality and focus of your research. EVENT AGENDA NSi 2009 Faculty of Medicine Commercialisation Workshop Part Two: Models and Challenges Last year we introduced NSi, discussed its role and service offering, we covered the basic elements of commercialisation of research activities at UNSW; including IP policy, how to disclose to NSi, the general processes for assessing new opportunities, commercialisation options and the patenting process.
