Submissions have closed for the inaugural Inventor of the Year Awards 08, hosted by NewSouth Innovations (NSi) Pty Limited.

The NSi Inventor of the Year Awards 08 recognise and reward the development of innovative technology that has potential benefits for the community and the environment. The Awards carry a total prize pool of $20,000, and are open to UNSW staff and students.

Inventors from across the university are invited to make submissions in one of four award categories – biomedicine, science, the environment, and information and communication technology. Researchers from all disciplines are encouraged to apply. The Awards also recognise an NSi Inventor of the Year selected from the Awards’ four category winners.

“The Inventor of the Year Awards 08 are intended to reward research creativity and originality that has the potential to benefit the community and the environment,” says Mark Bennett, NSI’s chief executive officer. "We are seeking applications from researchers who have an entrepreneurial spirit and an appreciation for market needs as a consequence of their links with industry partners.”
